RUST-OLEUM® Bright Galvanizing 1017 is a fast drying, zinc rich coating based on an epoxyester resin. The product contains pure zinc and aluminium as pigments and provides cathodicprotection.Withstands up to 500 hours or salt spray (DIN 50021 SS) 90% pure zinc in the form of dry film paintFull protection for pure and galvanized steel Heat resistant up to 300ºC Excellent protection against moisture and salt sprayCoverage:11.5m²/LDrying Time:30 minutesApplication Method:BRUSHUse:INTERIOR & EXTERIORTool Cleaner:WHITE SPIRITRECOMMENDED USESRUST-OLEUM Bright Galvanizing 1017 should be used on new, bare steel, blasted steel orgalvanized steel surfaces.RUST-OLEUM Bright Galvanizing 1017 is primarily intended for brush application on smallareas or for touch-up.RUST-OLEUM Bright Galvanizing 1017 can be recoated with non-saponifiable coatings.RUST-OLEUM Bright Galvanizing 1017 should be used as a single coat in light industrialexposures, corrosive environments and high humidity areas.TECHNICAL DATAAppearance: FlatColour: AluminiumDensity: 1,77 kg/ltr% zinc/alu: 76% in dry film (67,5% Zn / 8,5% Al)Solids Contents: 41,8% by volumeViscosity: 88 - 92 KU /Krebs Stormer Units at 20°CRecommended film thickness: 35 µm dry, equals 85 µm wetVOC-content: 477 g/l max.Ready-to-use mixture: 497 g/l max.Category: A/iEU Limit value: 600g/l (2007) / 500g/l (2010) CoverageTheoretical: 11,5 m²/l at 35 µm dry6,5m²/kg at 35 µm dryPractical: Practical coverage depends on many factors such as porosity androughness of the substrate and material losses during application.SURFACE PREPARATIONRemove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure (steam)cleaning in combination with appropriate detergents. For optimum results remove rust, rustscale, mill scale and deteriorated coatings by abrasive blasting to Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1 : 1988),blast profile max. 50 µm. The surface must be clean and dry during application.DIRECTION FOR USETo ensure homogeneity, coating materials should be thoroughly stirred prior to use.To avoid settlement of the zinc pigments on the bottom of the can stir regularly duringapplication. APPLICATION & THINNINGBrush: Up to 5 vol. %; RUST-OLEUM Thinner 160.Use natural bristles, longhair brushes.Cleanup: Use RUST-OLEUM Thinner 160 or aromatic hydrocarbons.APPLICATION CONDITIONSTemperature of air, substrate and coating material between 5 and 35°C and relative humiditybelow 85%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point.REMARKSMaximum dry film thickness per coat: 75 µm dry, equals 180 µm wet.RUST-OLEUM Bright Galvanizing 1017 should preferably be applied in a maximum dry filmthickness of 35 µm if recoated.SAFETYConsult Safety Data Sheet and Safety Information printed on the can.SHELLIFE / STORAGE CONDITIONS5 years from date of production in unopened cans, if stored in dry, well ventilated areas, not indirect sunlight at temperatures between 5° and 35°C.
